Ad-Hoc Samoa Sub-Committee Meeting 10/24

The Ad-Hoc Committee will meet on Monday, Oct. 24 at 7:30 p.m., North Valley City Hall, 7747 Foothill Blvd.

Samoa Mitigated Negative Declaration (MND)

City Planning has released an MND for the proposed Samoa Project.  According to CD2 planning deputy Karo Torossian, the application was deemed complete on 10-11-11 and the MND issued same day.  This is not an approval of the project, just the process it goes through before getting approval.  Between the release date of 10-11-11 and 11-2-11 is the time when the community can weigh in and respond to items in the MND that they want responses to or changes made in what the application is proposing.  The STNC's Samoa Sub-Committee is working to prepare a response to the MND for the LUC and STNC to review and submit on behalf of the STNC.  Everyone is welcome and encouraged to submit comments.

The next Samoa Sub-Committee meeting will be Monday, Oct. 24 at 7:30 p.m. at North Valley City Hall.  Link to the MND is to the right ------------------------------>

Attached you will find two letter's from Councilman Krekorian regarding the Samoa Avenue Housing project. One letter was sent to the General Managers of the Housing and Planning Departments, while the second letter is a response to anyone who contacted our office regarding the Samoa project.

Samoa Sub-Committee Meeting 10-17-11

The Samoa Sub-Committee will meet to discuss comments to the MND at a meeting on Monday, Oct. 17, 7 p.m. at North Valley City Hall.

STNC Votes to Stop Bond Funding Release

The STNC board voted send a letter to Paul Krekorian urging that he stop the bond funding scheduled to be released on Tuesday, October 18.  See a copy of the letter posted to the right ---------------->

STNC Special Meetings 10-16-11

The STNC will hold a joint meeting of the Samoa Sub-Committe, Land Use Committee and Full STNC board on Sunday, Oct. 16 at 4:30 p.m. to approve a letter to Mr. Krekorian regarding the Samoa Project. STNC Website

City Planning issues Proposed MND dated 11-2-11 (comment deadline)

Today the STNC received a copy of the Proposed Mitigated Negative Declaration for the Samoa Project.  Click on the link to the right for a copy or contact the STNC office for a printed copy.  It is important to review this document careful.  The next Samoa Ad-Hoc Committee meeting will be held on Monday, Oct. 24 at 7 p.m.  Submit a copy of your comments to Bill Skiles at billskiles@ca.rr.com

STNC Finds Irregularities in Samoa Application

The letter to Mr. Michael LoGrande, Director of City Planning regarding the irregularities in the Samoa Apartments application was sent September 15, 2011.  Click the link to the right of this post to see a copy.  As of today, no reply or updates have been received by the STNC.

STNC Meeting 9/14

Both the Ad-hoc committee and the Land Use Committee have approved a letter to Mr. Michael LoGrande, Director of City Planning regarding the irregularities in the Samoa Apartments application.  Tonight the STNC board will vote to send this letter.  Meeting will be held at North Valley Neighborhood City Hall, 7747 Foothill Blvd., Tujunga at 7 p.m.

Special Meeting - Monday, Sept. 12 at 7:30 p.m.

A special meeting of Ad-Hoc Committee and the and the STNC Land Use Committee will be held next Monday, Sept. 12 at 7:30 p.m.  **Note time change**

Samoa Project Application Received by STNC

The STNC has now received the complete Master Land Use Application for the Samoa Project. The application can be read and downloaded by following the link in the column on the right of this page.

UPDATE:  We have been informed that the application copy we received may not be considered "complete" by the City Planning Department.  This means that the STNC will be checking back with City Planning for any updates.  The applicant's representative has also been contacted and invited to present the proposal at a future Land Use Committee (LUC) meeting once the application is truly "complete".

Application Filed at City Planning for 64-units

Application Filed at City Planning for a 64 unit Affordable Housing Project at 10046-56 Samoa Avenue.

The STNC's Land Use Committee has formed an Ad-Hoc Committee to research the application as filed by the applicant.

The STNC has not yet received its copy of the application.  It is being held at City Planning until complete.  Check back here for updates, meetings, how to get involved.
